Update on our family!

Summer is flying by. It's amazing that Rileigh will start first grade on Aug. 25th.

Chris and I just celebrating our 18 year wedding anniversary on Aug. 2nd.....pretty crazy.

We went to Chris' Aunt's funeral in Surfside, TX. I'm sad she's gone. It was rough because it was my first funeral since my moms. We did manage to get in some beach time and the kids really, really had a blast. We will have to go back soon.

I really put it in full-force for trying to find a teaching job. However...no luck. Actually...NONE of my friends that I graduated with have teaching jobs yet. Tough market. I know that I have to just give it go God. It's all about his timing.

Another big thing we are working on is the WALL. We are cutting back the wall in front of our house. It looks really good and I can't wait to see what it looks like all rocked up...which we uh....are doing ourselves. Each rock we lay will weigh about 90lbs. Chris is going to be buff after all that rock moving.

Here's a few pics.

Back to the Blog.....Time for an update!

(Feb. 17, 1947-March 23, 2009)

Miss you mom!

I ran into my cousin's wife and we were talking about blogging. Mine obviously hasn't been updated in a VERY long time. My life has been turned up-side-down. First I left NI to student teach, and right after spring break I lost my mom. Things have been so difficult. I finished student teaching and I'm back at NI for now but I'm not really persuing a teaching job. I've posted my resumes on different district sites but I'm just going to sit back and see what happens. I was offered a long-term sub position at Lago Vista, but I can't quit NI for something that is not long-term.

I just really miss her...more than I ever imagined. It really, really sucks!

My goal now is to move forward and keep blogging, get back on WW and just keep moving through life. : )

Student Teaching - 1 Week Down!

Well, I finished my first week of student teaching. Whew.....let me first just say, teaching is A LOT of work! I guess I've been used to sitting on my butt all day (lol). It's not just the walking around, it's all the planning that is involved. We definitely don't pay teachers enough!

I did have fun planning the activity we did on Friday. We made edible snowmen out of marshmallows and candy. It was a ton of fun. I did this project with my family this week and the kids loved it! Hope you enjoy the pictures.

BTW....I'm down 17.6 lbs and Chris is down 12 lbs. Our friends Dave & Angela joined us so we have even more support on our side.

I did it! I survived my first day of student teaching. Actually, it was a tiny bit boring. I'm only observing these first few weeks so it's a lot of sitting and watching. I'm sure once I get to teach it will be crazy.

It was a fun and crazy day. The kids are great and I've already learned a lot of their names....which I'm very proud of since I'm so horrible with names.

Update...I lost 2.2 lbs this week so my total for 3 weeks is 13+. So far, so good.

Almost forgot the update info!

Oh yea...to update!

I lost 1.4 lbs. last week. Chris lost 3. Josh and Brandi both lost over 6!

I'm teaching in Lago Vista, 2nd Grade!

Good-bye for now NI!

Well, today is my last full-time at NI for the next 13 weeks. It seems so surreal to me. Today I walked in and my co-workers had decorated my cube with balloons, apples and little funny notes. Oh yea, and tons of recipes on my desk for all the apples they gave me. : ) I will miss everyone over the next few weeks, but I will still be working some hours so I will still get emails from everyone. I'm excited & a little sad...all at the same time.

Weight Watchers

Oh yea. I almost forgot. Chris and I joined Weight Watchers AGAIN!
Our first week was great. I lost 10.2 lbs and Chris lost 6.2...pretty crazy. My brother Josh and his wife Brandi joined last week with us so now we have a bigger support group. I'm excited they are on this journey with us. I'll keep everyone posted on our progress.
